Recently, our studio staff went to Dance IDEAS seminar in LA. While there, we learned so much. One thing that was repeated to us over and over was let your dance families know who you are. This is where the idea for our new blog started. So starting now, you can see blogs posted by Dance Pitt staff once or twice a month. We are going to cover a variety of topics that we feel are important for our dancers, parents, and community.
In this blog we are going to take just a second to tell you about us. We do not just mean us, the owners of The Dance Pitt, but the studio as a whole and what it stands for. About six years ago, the two of us set out to open a dance studio. Two 19 year olds decided it was time to turn their crazy dreams into reality, and thankfully we have the best parents in the world. Parents who believed in us and helped us make it happen. We are thankful everyday for our parents and everything they have done to make The Dance Pitt a reality.
In these past years we have put a lot into this studio. We have put a lot of love, sweat, and even tears into this studio. It is not always easy, but we are so proud of what we have started. Both of us also work as teachers at USD 250. We love teaching in the classroom and in the dance studio and feel that this experience in elementary education truly makes us stronger in the studio.
Here is the part we really want you to know. Although we love the shiny trophies and hope for perfect pirouettes, that isn’t why we teach dance. We teach dance because it gives us the ability to help so many children learn respect, dedication, teamwork, self-discipline and so much more. It also provides a family for 80 to 100 kids a year. A home away from home, with family they never even thought they would have. Watching the girls form lasting friendships and bonds is one of the absolute best parts of our job. We have some amazing families throughout our community who support us, and we couldn’t do it without them.
For our studio pushing your child to be the best person they can be, is just as important as pushing them to be the best dancer they can be. We want them to feel confident and loved, and we strive everyday to provide a place for this.
So what do you need to know about us? We love teaching through traditional education and in the studio, we love dance in all forms, and most importantly we love your children. They make our lives so fulfilling. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Watch out for many more blogs. Here is to our best season yet, where we learn from one another and form amazing new friendships.
